Reading

Learning to read is the most important thing your child will learn at our school. Everything else depends on it, so we do all we can to make sure every child learns to read quickly. We want your child to love reading and to want to read for themselves.

Wreay School follows the Read Write Inc. (RWI) phonics programme which helps all children learn to read fluently and at speed so they can focus on developing their skills in comprehension, vocabulary and spelling. The programme is designed for children aged 4-7 years old. However, at Wreay we will continue teaching RWI to children beyond the age of 7 if they still need support with their reading.
