Sports Funding Impact
The PE and Sport Premium is additional funding provided on a per-pupil and lump sum basis. It is intended to support schools in expanding the provision they have both for sports and general health and wellbeing for pupils in years 1-6.
Allocations for the academic year 2022-23 are calculated using the number of pupils in Years 1 to 6, as recorded in the January 2022 census as follows:
- Schools with 17 or more eligible pupils receive £16,000 plus £10 per eligible pupil
- Schools with 16 or fewer eligible pupils receive £1000 per eligible pupil
All our children have equal access to high-quality PE provision and opportunities to experience and participate in a wide range of sports and physical activities. As a result of its rural location, Wreay School benefits from good on-site resources, but can find it difficult to attend events due to the distances involved. In light of this, funding is used to both develop on-site provision and to enable pupils to access opportunities beyond our own school gates.

Swimming
90% of our Year 6 Cohort are meeting the National Curriculum requirement to swim confidently and proficiently over a distance of 25m, use a range of strokes effectively and perform safe self-rescue in different water based situations.
